Our tolling business

This business segment refers to relationships where BMWIL’s principal provides the raw material, which is then processed and customised as per market requirements. This would have been a usual engagement with most companies; it is an engagement of pride at BMWIL for some good reasons.

One, the relationship with the principal has sustained for more than a quarter of a century, indicating that we have institutionalized our value proposition.

Two, we have positioned our manufacturing facilities as an extension of our principal’s manufacturing facilities – no difference.

Three, our values, processes and practices are in complete alignment with those of our principal.

The result is that what customers get from us is more than a product. They get an assurance that what has been manufactured and marketed is a product of the highest quality coupled with sensitive service whenever they need.

Over the years, BMWIL has established an unmatched competence in working closely with large principals and demanding consumers. The fact that BMWIL has worked for more than a quarter of a century with one of the country’s most respected primary steel manufacturers at one end and some of the most demanding downstream customers at the other is a testimony to its flexibility, knowledge and competence.

BMWIL entered into an arrangement in 1992 with this giant to process primary steel into a range of secondary steel products for a cross-section of the giant’s downstream customers. We are pleased to state that the relationship has grown – in volume, revenues, responsibility and product complexity.

RESPECT

We are also pleased to report the humbling confidence placed by this giant on us: its largest engagement with any external processing partner. This association had had a number of spinoffs: a sharing of shopfloor competencies, growing processing volumes and sectoral respect.
